One of the ways in which Sarah has coped with her disease over the past several years is to write. She writes night and day, often getting up before anyone else in the house, before the sun even, to pound away at the keyboard in the light of her monitor. As each treatment fails for her, as her joints lock up like an eighty year old woman’s, she writes. Sarah has written through weekends, holidays, Crohn’s flares, hospitalizations. When joint pain prevents her from sitting at her computer, she lies on the couch and writes with paper and pencil. She is dedicated and tenacious, and she is very talented.
After dozens of short stories and one or two aborted novel attempts, she has completed her first novel-length work. For a twelve (now thirteen) year old writer, it is quite excellently done. She has asked me to publish her work as an e-book, and is quite proud of it (so are her mom and me.) She spends several hours each day working on the sequel…

An ancient necromancer, so powerful that he consorts with Death himself, threatens the Earth. Four teens–who aren’t precisely human–suddenly manifest strange, elemental powers. Raised in drastically different households, the four must come together as a team to defeat him before it’s too late.
Alliances will form and be broken. Romance will blossom. The four will stand together–but one will fall.
This dark young adult fantasy by thirteen-year-old author Sarah Warner is engaging, suspenseful, and doesn’t pull punches.
